The Fellowship of Southern Writers honored Arlie Herron last April by
naming their archives at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga's Lupton
Library in honor of him. The occassion was marked by a public reception
that included laudatory comments by writers George Garrett and Doris Betts.
Herron, founder of the biennial Chattanooga Conference on Southern Literature,
is head of the English department at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
He has been a regular participant in the Faulkner and Yoknapatawpha Conference
since its founding in 1974 and, in recent years, has served as a leader
for the "Teaching Faulkner" sessions of the conference.
