           2008 Committee Meeting

Dr. Jean Jones was the former director of the University Counseling Center. She was the first female director in the division of Student Affairs. While at Ole Miss, she was involved in many aspects of student life. Dr. Jones battled breast cancer bravely, but in 1997, the cancer won the war.

The Jean Jones Walk/Run for Cancer is a memorial walk for Dr. Jones, and an event to honor others who have been touched by cancer and bring awareness to the community. This year is the 10th Annual Jean Jones Walk/Run for Cancer.

The event has been very successful in previous years, and we at the University Counseling Center are quite sure this year will be the best race ever. The date for this year’s race was Saturday, April 5, 2008. The race will begin in front of the Union, and walkers will complete a 2-mile walk around campus, with runners completing a 5K track also around campus. The route for this year’s race is the same as it has been in past runs.
