Personal Counseling and Therapy - The goal of counseling is to help clients take more effective control of their lives. Some of the types of personal issues addressed include: college adjustment, depression, anxiety, relationship concerns, substance abuse, eating disorders, grief/loss issues, family problems.

Employee Assistance Program or EAP is a service developed for all University employees and faculty. The purpose of the EAP is to provide information, counseling or other services to employees who may be experiencing difficulties which disrupt day-to-day functioning. Learn more...

Group Counseling and Therapy - Support groups and therapy groups are offered as a means of helping students gain greater self-awareness, interpersonal sensitivity and skill-building in a safe environment. Crisis Intervention - A counselor is on call 24 hours a day for emergency assistance. After office hours contact UPD at 915-7234 and they will get in touch with a crisis counselor.

Substance Abuse Services - We at the University Counseling Center understand that alcohol abuse (take our online quiz) can be a significant problem on college campuses. Our philosophy is one of acceptance, respect, compassion and support for the individuals we serve. We are now offering 3 Programs: Crossroads, Turning Point, and Oasis. Our primary goal is to prevent students from having to leave school in order to seek treatment for alcohol and drug issues. Assessment - UCC offers Alcohol & Drug Testing, Depression Testing, and Eating Disorders Testing as it relates to therapy and counseling as well as referrals for other types of psychological assessments.

Consultation - Faculty, staff or students are encouraged to consult with a Counseling Center professional staff member on a variety of issues including: how to make a referral, how to respond to a student or colleague that you are concerned about.

Visits to the University Counseling Center are strictly confidential. The UCC adheres to the legal limits of confidentiality and the ethical codes of the American Psychological Association and the American Counseling Association.

Confidentiality applies to your sessions, your records, appointments, and progress in counseling. No record of counseling is contained in any academic, educational or personnel file.

No information written or oral will be released to other persons without the client's written permission. By law limitations of confidentiality include when there is risk of imminent harm to the student or others.
