Statement of Purpose

The School of Business Administration Living-Learning Community provides a residential environment that fosters academic and social success for students interested in finance, management, management information systems, marketing, and economics.

Students in the Business LLC come from diverse backgrounds but share interest in the pursuit of business knowledge and success and the establishment of lifelong networks of friends and colleagues.

 

Residence Hall Assignment

Students in the Business LLC will live in Ridge North.

 

Desired Learning Outcomes

  • Enjoy positive first-year experiences as Business LLC members
  • Build strong relationships with classmates by working together to succeed
  • Develop relationships with students, staff, faculty, and mentors that facilitate learning beyond the classroom
  • Foster study groups and discussions among students regarding common classwork, reading, and events
  • Become engaged in campus activities and community events
  • Learn excellent study skills and time management skills

Community Structure
Membership in the Business LLC is contingent upon registration as a freshman in the School of Business Administration as well as continued membership in the school throughout the given academic year. (Students may select a business major during application for admission or by contacting the Office of Admissions & Enrollment Services.)

EDHE 105 Freshman Year Experience Course for Business Students

This fall, a section of the EDHE 105 course has been reserved exclusively for business students. This course meets the requirements for three hours of university credit. Please register for this section if you are interested in taking EDHE 105 with your peers.

Class meetings are at 1 p.m. MWF (Section 69).

 

Community Activities
Activities will be determined by the students who choose to live in the Business LLC in conjunction with the faculty fellow, who will facilitate activities and serve as a resource to the community. These activities may include (but are not limited to):

  • Small group meetings with School of Business Administration faculty and distinguished visitors
  • Career events and opportunities to closely interact with individuals working in specific School of Business Administration related areas or professions
  • Programming designed to enhance academic success (e.g., time management, project management, study skills, academic advising)
