Provost Scholars LLC

Statement of Purpose

The Provost Scholars Program recognizes and rewards talented, incoming Ole Miss students for their academic performance. The Provost Scholars LLC enables students to live with other Provost Scholars who are motivated to achieve academically and are motivated to be good citizens of the University. In addition to living with students who seek continued academic success, the Provost Scholars LLC will foster life-long friendships and social interactions.

Residence Hall Assignment

Students in the Provost Scholars LLC will live on the third and fourth floors in Minor Hall (formerly Ridge West).

Application Information

First-year Provost Scholars are eligible to reside in the Provost Scholar LLC.  No other application besides the housing application and acceptance of the Provost Scholars offer is required. Students will use their assigned housing selection time slot to choose a bedspace in the Provost Scholars LLC. Spaces will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. First-year Provost Scholars are not required to live in the Provost Scholar LLC, and some may choose to live in other communities like the residential colleges, Global Perspectives LLC, or STEM LLC. The Provost Scholars LLC is not available to students who are not Provost Scholars.

 

Desired Learning Outcomes

Provost Scholars LLC students will:

  • Enjoy positive first-year experiences as Provost Scholars LLC members

  • Develop relationships with students, staff, and faculty that foster learning beyond the classroom

  • Foster study groups and discussions among students regarding common classwork, reading, and events

  • Become engaged in campus activities and community events

  • Learn excellent study skills and time management skills

Community Structure

Membership in the Provost Scholars LLC is contingent upon Provost Scholar status throughout the given academic year.

Community Activities

Activities will be determined by the students who choose to live in the Provost Scholars LLC in conjunction with the Faculty Fellow, who will facilitate activities and serve as a resource to the community.  These activities may include (and are not limited to) workshops, social gatherings, intramural sports, and community service.
