New Students
Living in the residence halls is a great way to experience all that Ole Miss has to offer. Students living on campus are more involved in campus life, make better grades, and form friendships with a wider variety of people. Living in the residence halls is affordable and convenient and allows you to concentrate on your studies instead of worrying about monthly bills, parking, and what you will do for meals. Each hall is staffed with a residence hall director (RHD) and at least one resident assistant (RA) is on each floor. For the safety of our students, each hall has controlled card-reader access, fire extinguishers, and a fire security system. Housing staff are available around the clock to help maintain a safe and secure environment.
Once you are admitted to Ole Miss, you can apply for housing. An online application is available to admitted students at my.olemiss.edu. The application requires a $75 nonrefundable application fee. The sooner that you complete the application and contract and pay the $75 nonrefundable application fee, the more likely it is that you will receive an early room selection time slot in the spring. Having an earlier time slot gives you the most options during your room selection. Please remember that all freshmen (students with less than 30 credit hours) are required to live in campus housing during the first year unless they meet certain commuter guidelines. Transfer students have the option of living on or off campus, but many find it especially helpful to live on campus as they are making the transition to Ole Miss. Due to the freshman residency requirement, returning student and transfer student housing is limited on campus.
