 
SETTING UP A MAILBOX DIAL IN FROM YOUR OWN PHONE (You MUST dial in from your phone) |
1.LOGIN/SET YOUR PASSWORD
- a. Dial extension 5000 When the system answers, you
will hear a computer generated voice speak the name assigned to the
mailbox. Once you have finished the setup of the mailbox, your recorded
name will replace this computer generated voice.
- b. Enter the default password: 1 2 3 then press the # sign.
- c. The system will tell you that the minimum password length is 6 digits
and cannot start with zero. Enter your new 6 digit password, and then
press the # sign.(You can use the
same password you have for the old system as long as it does not begin
with a "0". If it currently begins with a "0", you can change the "0" to
another number and keep the remaining five digits the same)The system will ask you to verify your new password.
Reenter your new 6 digit password, and then press the # sign
2.RECORD YOUR NAME
- a. From the main menu, you will hear "to record messages press 1, to get
messages press 2, to administer personal greetings press 3" --Press 5 for Personal Options
- b. You will hear "to administer mailing lists press 1, to change your
password press 4, to record your name press 5" --Press 5 to record your
name
- c.You will hear "at the tone, speak your name and press 1" --Speak your first and last name then press 1
- d. You will hear "to re-record your name press 1, to approve press the # sign" --Press the # sign
- e. You will be returned to the main menu
3. RECORD YOUR PERSONAL GREETING (You MUST record a personal greeting)
- a.From the main menu, you will hear "to record messages press 1, to get messages press 2, to administer personal greetings press 3"--Press 3 to record personal greetings
- b. You will hear "for all calls system greeting is active to: Listen to a greeting press 0. Record a greeting press 1., Activate a greeting press 2. Delete a greeting press 3.
--Press 1 to record a greeting
- c. You will hear "for personal greeting press 1 for extended absence greeting press 2" --Press 1 to record a personal greeting. ex. "You have reached the voicemail box of (your name) in (your department) at the University of Mississippi. At the tone, please leave a message and I will return your call as soon as possible."
- d. You will hear "when finished recording press # to approve or 1 to edit your message, record at the tone."
--Record your personal greeting, then press # to keep or 1 to re-record greeting

RETRIEVING MESSAGES
A. RETRIEVE MESSAGES FROM YOUR OWN PHONE
1. Dial 5000:
You will hear the name of the mailbox you are calling from (your recorded name)
- a. Enter your password
- b. Press the # sign
You will hear "1 new message, to record messages press 1, to get messages press 2, to administer personal greetings press 3" (same as old system)
2. Press 2 to get messages: You will hear "New messages, voice message from ______ (caller's name or phone
number), received: time--date--length. To listen press 0, to delete press * D, to skip press the # sign."
Press 0 Message will play
-- You will hear "to respond or forward press 1, to delete press *D, to skip press the # key."
If you disconnect the call without choosing one of these options, the message will be stored as a saved message, NOT a
new message (as in the old system)
B. RETRIEVE MESSAGES FROM A PHONE WITHOUT VOICEMAIL (incl. off campus phones)
1.Dial 5000: You will hear "Welcome to Avaya Messaging, please enter the mailbox number of
the person you are calling. If you have a mailbox on this system,
please press #."
- a.Press # key: You will hear, "mailbox number please"
- b. Enter your mailbox number: You will hear, "please enter your password then press #"
- c. Enter your password
- d. Press the # key
2. You will hear "1 new message, to record messages press1, to get messages press 2, to administer
personal greetings press 3" (same as old system)
3. Press 2 to get messages: You will hear "New messages, voice message from ______ (caller’s name or extension), received: time--date--length. To listen press 0, to delete press * D, to skip press the # sign."
Press 0, message will play: You will hear "to respond or forward press 1, to delete press *D, to skip
press the # sign"

C. RETRIEVE MESSAGES FROM A PHONE WITH VOICEMAIL, BUT NOT YOUR OWN
1. Dial 5000: You will hear "_____ (the recorded mailbox name), please enter your password then press #"
- a. Press the * key to get to the main menu. Then you will hear "Please enter the mailbox # of the person you are calling, if you have a mailbox on the system, please press #"
- b. Press the # key
2. Enter your mailbox number: You will hear, "please enter your password then press #"
- a. Enter your password
- b. Press the # key
3. You will hear "1 new message, to record messages press 1, to get messages press 2, to administer personal greetings press 3" (same as old system)
4. Press 2:
You will hear "New messages, voice message from ______ (caller's name or extension), received: time--date--length. To listen press 0, to delete press * D, to skip press the # sign."
Press 0, message will play: You will hear "to respond or forward press 1, to delete press *D, to skip press the # sign"
If you disconnect the call without choosing one of these options, the message will be stored as a saved message, NOT a
