The Department of Theatre Arts will host four on- campus Theatre Merit Scholarship Auditions and Interviews during the 2009-2010 academic year. Each Audition/Interview Weekend coincides with one of our productions, so those auditioning will get an opportunity to see the kind of work we do.

The weekend begins with a meeting 9am Friday morning with the Department Chair and the Director of Undergraduate Studies in which we outline our degree and production programs and answer questions. Students are then escorted to the Freshman Performance Study or Design classes by members of the current freshman class. Visiting students may observe or participate, as they choose.

At noon, students will be taken to a potluck lunch that is an excellent opportunity to meet and talk to students, as well as to chat informally with members of the faculty. Following lunch, students and their parents will meet with the Department Chair, who will provide information about the way the department is structured and the College of Liberal Arts.

That is followed by a meeting for performance students with Joe Turner Cantú, the head of our Acting Program, and for design students with Dex Edwards and Carey Hanson, the coordinators of our Design Programs. Those meetings will provide students with information about the the curricula and training that we offer.

On Friday evening, students, their parents, and sponsors will be our guests at the show performing that weekend. Auditions take place on Saturday morning at 10am and are normally finished by noon.
