"Efficiency! economy! business! business! BUSINESS! " The Boss

After twenty-five years at his job, anti-hero accountant and henpecked Everyman Mr. Zero is replaced by an automated calculator, pushing him over the edge and into an act of bloody retribution. Mr. Zero's trial, execution, and afterlife are filled with intense but often comical dialogue that makes The Adding Machine one of the best examples of American Expressionism on the modern stage.
