The parlor. In the mid-19th century, the front parlor was usually reserved for entertaining company, or for special occasions, such as weddings and funerals. When Lydia Lewis Walton married Dr. Alfred Alexander Young in 1895, the marriage ceremony was performed in this room, as was her funeral in 1926. Other entertaining was done in the entrance hall, which served as an informal parlor.

The dining room. The c.1880s mahogany table in this room was donated from the estate of Emma Katherine Faser-Birchett. It was given to her by her mother, Linda Sultan, wife of Henry Minor Faser (founder of the University's School of Pharmacy). The pewter water pitcher and teapot on the sideboard were gifts to Will and Marjorie Lewis from Stark Young. Will Lewis was the nephew of Lydia Lewis Walton Young. He and his wife rented an upstairs apartment from Lydia in the early 1920s. |

The children's room. This bedroom over the parlor was shared by Victoria Walton and Julia Young. It is set up to look like the small Waltons and Youngs have left their toys to go outside and play. This bedroom suite is the original 1920s wedding furniture of Will and Marjorie Lewis. |
