Crime Alert Update: 2 Arrests in Strong-Armed Robbery in Oxford
Oxford Police Department has arrested Albert Joiner and Chris Peyton in connection with the strong-arm robbery that reportedly occurred in the parking lot behind Longshot Bar & Grill at approximately 12:30 a.m. on Tuesday, January 9, 2007, wherein the victim was hit and kicked viciously before being robbed of $3,000.
Investigation continues on the second strong-arm robbery that occurred at Saddle Creek Apartments on Jan. 9.
Two Strong-Armed Robberies Reported in Oxford
Two reports of strong-armed robbery were received by the Oxford Police Department early Tuesday morning, January 9, 2007.
The first robbery occurred at about 12:30 a.m. in a parking lot behind Longshot Bar & Grill. The victim reported being robbed after leaving the bar. The victim stated that two men hit and kicked him before taking $3,000 from him. The two robbers were described as black males, one wearing a gray sweatshirt and the other wearing a blue or black sweatshirt.
The second robbery was reported at 12:51 a.m. at Saddle Creek Apartments. This victim stated he was walking to his front door when he was jumped by two men who robbed him of his wallet and also took an iPod from his vehicle before they fled the area in a late 1980's model car, possibly a Buick. OPD officers concluded the victim may have come home just as the two robbers were breaking into his residence. These two robbers were described as black males, both wearing dark sweatshirts and baggy blue jeans.
Oxford Police Department continues to investigate these robberies and has not determined whether the incidents are related. No arrests have yet been made. Anyone who may have any information related to these robberies is encouraged to contact Oxford Police Department at 232-2400.
