ALERT FROM UPD

Suspicious Male Report


Thursday, September 6, 9:55 p.m., UPD received a report of a female student being approached by two suspicious males in the Martin Hall Parking Lot at approximately 9:20 p.m.

According to the victim, she was walking towards Martin Hall from the south side of the parking lot (north of Kincannon Hall) when she heard a male shout out to her “hey girl come here”. She stated she continued to walk towards the residence hall. The victim suddenly felt someone grab her arm firmly from behind. She jerked away and continued to walk towards Martin Hall.

The victim stated as she freed herself from the first male another came up behind her and grabbed her posterior. She then turned around and struck the male in the head with her purse and ran to the front side of Martin Hall.

The first male was described as a black male, dark complexion,approximately 20-23 years of age, having a round face and a shaved head,approximately 225 lbs., 6’-6’2”, wearing a white t-shirt and dark baggy pants. The subject is believed to have facial hair around the mouth similar to a goatee.

The second male was described as a black male, dark complexion, having a thin face with a distinct chin, approximately 200 lbs., wearing a dark shirt, dark pants, and a black do-rag.

The males fled the area in a 4-door older model sedan. No known direction of travel.

UPD officers responded to the area but did not make contact with the individuals.

UPD would like to point out some safety tips:

•Be alert to your surroundings at all times

•Avoid being out late by yourself, if possible – especially in isolated,less populated areas of campus

•Call UPD at 662-915-7234 for a security escort

•Immediately report to UPD any suspicious persons or vehicles you observe

•Carry a cell phone and program UPD’s phone numbers 662-915-4911 for emergency and 662-915-7234 for non-emergency

•Use one of the Code Blue emergency telephone units to contact UPD
