1. Reaction to Minutes of the Undergraduate Council Meetings of September 13, September 27, and October 4. Upon a motion by Dean Boxx, seconded by Dr. Cole, the minutes of the Undergraduate Council meeting of September 13, 1996, were approved. Upon a motion by Dean Abadie, seconded by Dean Davis, a motion was passed to approve the September 27, 1996, minutes of the Undergraduate Council. However, the revision requiring a 2.0 g.p.a. for graduation would not become effective unless and until such time as the University has an academic re-start program or academic bankruptcy program. There was a 6 to 3 vote in favor of the motion. Upon a motion by Dean Boxx, seconded by Dr. Cole, the Undergraduate Council minutes of October 4, 1996, were approved.

2. Reaction to Minutes of the Graduate Council Meetings of September 6, October 4, October 11, and October 25. Upon a motion by Dr. Cole, seconded by Dean Boxx, the Graduate Council minutes of October 4, 1996, were approved. Upon a motion by Dr. Gilbert, seconded by Dr. Cole, the Graduate Council minutes of October 11, 1996, were approved. Upon a motion by Dean Boxx, seconded by Dean Chambless, Graduate Council minutes of October 25, 1996, were approved.

3. Special Request to Add New Undergraduate Course: Psychology 99. Upon a motion by Dean Abadie, seconded by Dr. Cole, a new course, Psychology 99, was approved (see Attachment #1).

4. F.A.P. Barnard Distinguished Professorships. The Academic Council, in accepting the October 25, 1996, minutes of the Graduate Council, has decided not to go further with the expansion of the Barnard Professorships (see Attachment #2).

5. Donor and Scholar Events. It was the consensus of the deans that a day for donors and scholars should take place, at most, every other year. There was sentiment that when donors visit campus we could have something informal for them whereby they could meet their scholars. The Academic Council preferred that to a more formal scholars day program.

6. Academic Calendar. There was a consensus of the Academic Council to comply with the request of Dr. Mullendore to begin the fall session on Wednesday, August 20, 1996.
