What is REBALERT?

REBALERT is an emergency text message notification service available to UM employees, students and parents. University employees and students who have provided a valid cell phone number will automatically receive REBALERT text message notifications from the University. These text messages can be received on any cellular device, even cell phones that are not smartphones.

How do I sign up for REBALERT?

Employees and students may save their cell phone in myOleMiss to sign up for REBALERT messages. Employees would navigate to the Employee tab, My HR Tools, and finally Address and Communication Preferences. Students would navigate to the Student tab, My Profile, and finally Contact Information. I am not receiving REBALERT messages. What could be the cause?

What are non-emergency text messages and how do I opt in to receive them?

Optional or non-emergency text messages include notices from advisors and instructors as well as alerts about technology outages. Enabling the optional text messages would be done through myOleMiss. Employees would navigate to the Employee tab, My HR Tools, and finally Address and Communication Preferences. Select the Communication Preferences tab and then make your selection to enable optional messages. Students would navigate to the Student tab, My Profile, and finally Contact Information. In the CELL PHONE section, choose yes for the "Contact me via Cell" choice and update your preferences.
