Elise Gilbert
Elise Gilbert of McComb knew
she wanted to attend Ole Miss, and a
scholarship from the Ole Miss Women’s
Council reaffirmed her decision.
Gilbert, a marketing
communications major, said she was
attracted to the OMWC scholarship
because of the opportunities available
through the mentorship program.
“I’m looking forward to
meeting a lot of friends,” Gilbert said.
“I feel this program is going to help me
keep my priorities in line. I’m excited
because I am going to be able to meet a
lot of people who can help me in the
future and be good examples for me.”
Gilbert said she is
currently pursuing a career as a sports
broadcaster, preferably covering
basketball or football. She gained much
of her athletic experience in high
school when she participated in
softball, basketball and tennis.
Gilbert was also
actively involved in her Girl Scout
troop and her school chapters of
Fellowship of Christian Athletes and
Young Republicans.
Eager to get involved on
campus, Gilbert joined Kappa Delta
sorority and is interested in the
Baptist Student Union.
