Austin Gray

The Ole Miss Women’s Council Scholarship appealed Austin Gray, 19, of Oxford because it was different from traditional programs.

“I feel like we’re doing something to earn the money,” said the freshman political science major. “It’s an opportunity to get involved in not only the university but also the community and to establish contacts.”

Gray said he is unsure about his plans after college and is considering attending law school or pursuing  a career as a basketball coach or a college professor.

“I like teaching people because it has the potential to help somebody,” he said. “Not that I think I know a skill well enough, but there is the potential to teach someone a new skill and expand themselves.”

No matter what he does, Gray said he plans to be involved in his community and make a difference daily.

“It’s a way to give back, by doing the little things every day,” he said.
