Carlie Kollath

Carlie Kollath, 19, of Gulfport was torn between participating in a Christian mission program and attending college immediately after high school. The Ole Miss Women’s Council helped with the answer by extending extraordinary opportunities.

“I want to learn how to make a difference in life, and the Women’s Council provided the perfect combination of teaching those skills and helping me get an education,” said Kollath, a sophomore print journalism major. “The program is everything I was looking for after high school.”

Kollath’s future plans focus on becoming a newspaper reporter who writes articles that  influence people’s daily lives.

“I want people to read the newspaper and get inspired,” she said. “ I want to write pieces that make people want to go out in the world and make things better.”

She said the leadership skills and ethics training she is receiving from the OMWC are steering her toward the goal.

“They are giving me input gained from experience and pairing me up with mentors and other people who are so influential in my life. By the time I graduate, I want the character traits I see in these amazing people.”
