Langford, 20, of Amory saw the Ole Miss
Women’s Council scholarship program as a
good way to start her freshman year.
“I really felt
like it would help me not get lost in
the crowd,” said Langford, a physics major.
“That was my biggest concern coming to Ole
Miss. The Women’s Council helped me find my
place.”
Langford said
she hopes to become a high school physics
teacher.
“I think of
how much my teachers have influenced my
life, and if I can influence someone’s life
like that, there is no greater honor,” she
said. “I want to find happiness through my
future family and make a difference in other
people’s lives – make them better in some
way, whether it is through my teaching or
church or family.”
Langford said
the relationships with people in the Women’s
Council are teaching her skills she will
need in her career.
“Seeing how
they mentor me teaches me how I can mentor
other people without the benefits I was
given,” she said. “If the kids are open to
being reached, you can be a great influence
on their lives. If they aren’t that
reachable, you have to try even harder.” |
