Holly Myers
Holly Myers
of Magnolia began mentoring a young girl
while Myers was in junior high school.
When the girl was killed in an ATV
accident, Myers was determined to make a
difference in another child’s life.
As Myers, a forensic
chemistry major, was transferring from
Southwest Mississippi Community College,
she learned of the Ole Miss Women’s
Council mentoring program. Myers said
she was drawn to the OMWC scholarship
because of the financial relief it would
provide her family and the mentorship
and leadership training incorporated
into the program.
“It’s a great way to give
back,” Myers said. “I’ve always been
involved at school and the Women’s
Council was a good way to get started
after I transferred.”
Myers said any concerns she
had about transferring to a new school
disappeared when she went to her first
Women’s Council activity.
“The atmosphere of the
Women’s Council is awesome,” Myers said.
“It made me feel so welcome with how
personal everyone is.”
Myers said she is looking
forward to applying the skills she
learns through the program to a career
in criminal justice.
“I’m pursuing a career in
criminal investigation to bring justice
and peace to families of victims so they
can sleep easier at night.”
