Herman Sylvester
When Herman
Sylvester, 20, of Jackson learned about the
Women’s Council and the organization’s vision
for the scholarship program, he decided it was
something he had to be a part of.
“The fact I could
receive and be in a position to give back really
influenced my decision,”said the biology major.
“It is helping me get some attention in new
areas that I wouldn’t have gotten attention in
if I hadn’t done the program.”
Sylvester said
after earning an undergraduate degree, he wants
to go to medical school and become a surgeon.
“I see myself
trying to improve health care because the low
social areas are not receiving good health
care,” he said.
The Women’s
Council has already made a difference in his
life.
“I can learn from
the people who have already made it and follow
in their footsteps,” Sylvester said. “The
Women’s Council is teaching me how to make
reachable goals and also providing me with the
tools to reach them.” |
