The mission of the Graduate School is to provide leadership, coordination, and administrative structure to support all graduate programs at the University. This office functions as the central University entity for students, faculty, and staff involved in graduate education. It also is responsible for implementation of Graduate School policy to assure compliance with standards, quality, and integrity among all of the graduate programs.

  • The Graduate School would like to congratulate Chris Danielson, who was awarded The 2008 Franklin L. Riley Prize from the Mississippi Historical Society for his dissertation "The Voting Rights Act and the Creation of Black Politics in Mississippi, 1965-1986."

November 6-7, 2008 is Graduate 501 Conference!

All non-UM prospective students are invited to attend. Learn Everything you need to know about getting into Graduate School. No registration Fees! Free information, handouts, and door prizes!

November 6, 2008 --Meet and Greet Prospects at Southside Gallery on the Historic Oxford Square from 6:00- 8:00pm.

November 7, 2008--Information Sessions will be held at the Yerby Conference Center on the University of Mississippi campus beginning at 9am. Southern lunch will follow in the Grove.

Information Sessions will cover the following topics:

  • Why should I attend graduate school?
  • How do I fund my graduate education?
  • What is the application process?
  • Which extrance exam must I take?
  • What documents must be included with application?
  • What should I say in my personal statement?
  • How should I ask professors to write an excellent letter of recommendation?
  • What is graduate school like at UM?

Register for Graduate 501 Now! **Registered students will receive an information packet in October confirming events and locations. See you all soon! If you have not registered, you must register to attend this event.
