Snuggies for Spaceheaters

Did you know that a common portable space heater can consume up to 1500 Watts--as much as it takes to power a conventional oven or hot tub? Space heaters are an expensive use of energy when considering there are other ways to keep warm, such as a customized Ole Miss Snuggie!

The Ole Miss Green Campus Network is coordinating a "Snuggies for Spacehaters" drive. Whether you have a space heater or not, you can pledge to save energy this winter. Anyone is eligible to participate in the pledge.

For those individuals who sign the pledge, you are entered into a drawing to win a Winter Warmer's Basket, filled with goodies to keep you warm and toasty. For those who choose to give up your space heater, you will be entered into a drawing to win an Ole Miss Snuggie! We will be giving away 20 Ole Miss Snuggies.

The Pledge

When you sign the online pledge, you will be pledging to the following:

I PLEDGE TO MAKE A COMMITMENT TO UPHOLD THE UNIVERSITY CREED OF 'GOOD STEWARDSHIP OF OUR RESOURCES' BY REDUCING MY ENERGY CONSUMPTION. IN UPHOLDING THIS COMMITMENT, I PLEDGE TO:

1) remove space heaters from my office space and replace them with an alternative (i.e- jacket, snuggie, etc)

2) turn off electronics and lighting when leaving the office and use energy-saving modes while electronics are in use

The Green Campus Network team is asking the entire UM community to help them in their mission to save energy at Ole Miss this winter!

About the Green Campus Network

The Green Campus Network (GCN) is a classroom-to-workplace program that involves students, faculty, administrators and campus support staff in cutting energy use on college campuses, incorporating energy efficiency into curricula, encouraging students to pursue careers in sustainability after graduation and generally increasing awareness of energy efficiency.

This program is sponsored by the Tennessee Valley Authority and the Alliance to Save Energy.
