The first Green Week hosted by the city of Oxford and the University of Mississippi was a resounding success. The university welcomed distinguished guests to campus for workshops and presentations all week. Kevin Butt, General Manager/Chief Environmental Officer, Toyota Motor Manufacturing North America Inc.x, spent a day on campus meeting with students, faculty, and staff, and then in the afternoon he delivered an inspiring keynote address. Each day featured exhibits on the Student Union Plaza and City Hall where students and the community learned about environmental products, programs, and services available on campus as well as nationally. Stunning visual displays grabbed the attention of anyone near the Student Union, such as Mt. Trashmore and a 10-foot representation of the U.S.’s carbon footprint. The university and the city would like to thank the major sponsors of Green Week: Coke, Buffalo Peak, Smart Synch, International Paper, Toyota, Cellular South, Regions Bank, South Bank, and MAC Papers. Thank you to everyone who came out to learn, and we are already looking forward and planning for Green Week 2010! See video from Green Week
