Daylight Savings Time Update
| Old DST Dates |
New DST Dates |
| April 1 - Oct 28 |
March 11 - Nov 4 |
Daylight Saving Time (DST) begins earlier and ends later this year. The federal Energy Policy Act of 2005, which became effective in 2007, lengthened DST by one month. The beginning has changed from the first Sunday in April to the second Sunday in March. While the ending has changed from the last Sunday in October to the first Sunday in November.
For Windows XP users, to ensure your computer is compatible with this change, perform your Windows Updates by going to the Microsoft Update site (http://update.microsoft.com/) using Internet Explorer.
For Windows 2000 and earlier users, Microsoft has not released an update for the daylight savings time change. You must manually set your clock during the extended DST period.
For Apple Macintosh users, you should run your Apple Software Update utility to ensure you have the DST update applied.
For Outlook Calendar Users, you may notice some discrepancies in your appointment times during this extended DST period.
