WebMail Quotas

Current WebMail quotas are 100MB for students and 300MB for faculty and staff. The WebMail quota bar displays your current WebMail usage. **See here for example**.

Any e-mail messages left in WebMail are part of your current Quota usage.

Note: Your quota is ONLY updated when you log into WebMail. If you delete messages (including emptying your trash) your quota will not reflect any change until you log out and log back into WebMail.

If you exceed the quota, you will not be able to receive e-mail. If you receive a message stating your Inbox is near or over the allotted size limit, delete any messages you do not need from WebMail. You may also check e-mail with a "POP" client (ie...Outlook / Eudora / Thunderbird) which will download all messages from WebMail. For instructions on setting up a POP client, see http://www.olemiss.edu/email/.

Note: If you use an e-mail client, you will not receive messages that have been moved out of the Inbox before the client has "popped" your account.

In e-mail clients like Outlook and Eudora, if you have "leave on server" selected, copies of your e-mail message remain on the server and are part of your current WebMail usage. Changing your e-mail client settings not to leave mail on the server or specifying the number of days for e-mail to remain on the server will help keep your WebMail quota size manageable. When e-mail is moved from the server, you will no longer see the messages in WebMail. See examples below for Eudora or Outlook.

Please note, when the e-mail is moved from the server, you will no longer see the messages in WebMail.
