Congratulations Healthy Holiday Weight Challenge Winners!

Each holiday seaon, teams commit to maintaining weight. The "Bursar's Office" members (from the right) Carolyn Evans, Ella Goolsby, Cammie Champion, and Deborah Smith won the team challenge - maintaining their (and even losing a little) weight! Ole Miss Catering (Aramark) was kind enough to donate an iPod for each and the HealthWorks committee provided a fitbit for each team member. Congratulations Carolyn, Ella, Cammie and Deborah! Payroll Tax Rate Increase

The employee Social Security tax rate increased from 4.2% to 6.2% due to the expiration of the "payroll tax holiday" enacted two years ago. The rate was temporarily lowered in 2011 as part of the Tax Relief and Job Creation Act and was not extended in the Act passed by Congress on January 1, 2013.
As a result of the 2% increase, most employees will see a reduction in their take‐home pay. There has been no change in the 6.2% employer rate. The taxable wage base limit increased to

The employee Medicare tax rate remains unchanged for 2013 at 1.45%; however, an additional
0.09% in Medicare tax will be withheld each pay period once an employee receives wages in
excess of $200,000.

Online Registration for Training & Development Sessions

Employees are encouraged to review training sessions available on the Human Resources site or on myOleMiss at olemiss.edu/hrtraining. Enroll at myOleMiss and receive automatic reminders and keep track of the sessions that you have attended.

2012 Flexible Spending Account Balances

Employees who have not claimed all of their funds from Medical Reimbursement, Premium Reimbursement, and/or the Dependent Care accounts have until April 15, 2013 to file any claims for 2012.  These claims must be for expenditures incurred between January 1, 2012 and December 31, 2012.  The IRS permits agencies to institute a grace period for incurring medical expenses which may be applied to the Medical Reimbursement Account.  Medical expense incurred between January 1, 2012 and March 15, 2013 may be filed against the 2012 account. 2012 Tax Forms & Online Option

2012 W‐2s will be mailed to University employees no later than January 31, 2013. Employees who wish to access their W‐2s online next year may do so through myOleMiss. The link is located under "Self‐Service," which can be found under the "Employee" tab or at olemiss.edu/employeess. Select "Online W2 – Opt In" to receive your 2013 W‐2 online. Employees are encouraged to utilize the online option.

Advantages include faster retrieval, secure electronic access, and the ability to access forms from tax year 2013 forward.

The University is pleased to sponsor the newly formed Ole Miss Toastmasters - Red & Blue Club. This introductory local chapter of Toastmasters International is open for faculty, staff members and graduate students of the University of Mississippi.
