Biography: Larry D. Sparks
Vice Chancellor for Administration and Finance
Larry D. Sparks serves as Vice Chancellor for Administration and Finance at the University of Mississippi. Larry joined the University in 1997 and assumed the position of Vice Chancellor for Administration and Finance in 2006. His areas of responsibility include budget, contractual services, facilities planning, fiscal affairs, health and safety, human resources, landscape services, physical plant, procurement services, campus mail, the golf course, and airport operations.
A native of Oxford, Larry has a Bachelor of Accountancy degree from the University of Mississippi and a Master of Business Administration from Mississippi College. He is a certified public accountant and is currently licensed in Mississippi.
While at Ole Miss, he has served as the Director of Internal Audit, Director of Project DISCOVER (a comprehensive administrative reengineering project), Interim Director of Procurement Services, Assistant Vice Chancellor for Finance, and Associate Vice Chancellor for Administration and Finance. Prior to his arrival at Ole Miss, he served in several positions with the Mississippi Board of Trustees of State Institutions of Higher Learning during ten years of employment, including Deputy Assistant Commissioner for Finance and Administration. He also has several years experience auditing colleges and universities, serving as a practicing CPA, and involvement in the retail industry as a business owner. Early in his professional career, he worked in the Ole Miss accounting office in the area of sponsored program accounting.
Larry is married to Jacky Hedgepeth Sparks. They are the parents of three children—Jessi, Laura, and Tyler. Larry has been involved in various professional, church, and community activities for many years.
