Your Fair Share

What is your “Fair Share”?  A Fair Share is one hour’s pay per month:

  • Calculate your Fair Share (see below).
  • Write “Fair Share” on your payroll deduction form if you are donating your Fair Share or more, so you can be entered in the drawing to receive one of 19 great prizes.
  • Return your payroll deduction card in the envelope to Lucile McCook by December 3 to be entered in the drawing.

Thank you for taking part in the 2010 United Way campaign, and know that your contribution makes a real difference in the lives of people in the LOU community. If you have any questions about the United Way, what we do in the LOU area and the region, or the agencies we support, please contact us.

The easiest way to calculate your Fair Share...

Salaried employees:

  1. On the top half of your Employee Earnings Statement, locate the Earnings line titled “SEMI-MONTHLY PAY.”
  2. Divide that figure by 173 hours.
  3. The result is equal to ½ hour of your pay per month. Enter that amount, or more, on the Payroll Deduction form, authorizing UM to deduct the amount each semi-monthly pay period.

Hourly employees:
(If you know your hourly rate, divide it by 2.)

  1. If you don’t know your hourly rate, locate the line titled “REGULAR PAY-HOURLY” on the top half of your Employee Earnings Statement.
  2. Divide the corresponding “CURRENT AMT” by the number in the “HOURS” column, and then divide that by 2.
  3. The result is equal to ½ hour of your pay per month. Enter that amount, or more, on the Payroll Deduction form, authorizing UM to deduct the amount each semi-monthly pay period.
