Course Goals and Structure
This course is intended to provide students with a stimulating intellectual experience in a seminar (class discussion) setting. Full time professorial faculty will teach the course and enrollment will be limited. Students, in addition to completing their composition requirement, will have the opportunity to improve their reading and oral communication skills and their ability to think critically. Grades will be based primarily on the writing done in the course of the semester. Students will receive training in research and academic writing based on research. The topic of each section of the course will vary according to the interests and expertise of the instructor. Students will therefore have the opportunity to explore an interesting topic under the close supervision of professorial faculty and to get acquainted with the professor's primary area of specialization. Regardless of the topic and specialization of each section, the intention of the course will be to present material so that it is accessible to the average student.
