Marc Edward Walker received one of six Walter and Adelheid Hohenstein Fellowships awarded nationwide by Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest and largest all-discipline honor society.
This fellowship, named in honor of the former Phi Kappa Phi national president and his wife, is awarded to students for academic performance, leadership, and service on campus and in the community.
Walker, an Olive Branch native, was a member of the Sally McDonnell Barksdale Honors College. For his senior honors thesis, he worked closely with Tamar Goulet, assistant professor of biology, on a project titled “Etiologic Factors in Women with Primary Versus Secondary Recurrence Pregnancy Loss and Investigation of Etiological Frequencies in Women with Two or More Losses.”
Walker, who earned a Bachelor of Science in biology in 2006, was a Carrier Scholar, Taylor Medalist and recipient of several scholarships. He was an Ole Miss Ambassador and a member of the Associated Student Body, Phi Beta Kappa, Lambda Sigma, Beta Beta Beta and Golden Key honor society. Accepted at a number of prestigious medical schools, Walker entered Harvard Medical School in fall 2006.
