B.A. in Liberal Arts name changes to B.A. in Liberal Studies
To avoid confusion between the name of the degree and the name of the College of Liberal Arts, the B.A. in Liberal Arts will be renamed the B.A. in Liberal Studies starting in the Fall 2009. Only the name has changed, not the course requirements.
The University of Mississippi undergraduate catalog describes a B.A. in Liberal Studies as a “multidisciplinary degree program that allows students to select three minors, two of which must be within the College of Liberal Arts. Students must complete Spch 102 and at least 12 hours at the 300 level or higher in each of the selected minors.” Students must also earn a grade of C or better in each course for the major. This degree program allows students to customize their degree to fit their academic or career aspirations. The B.A. in Liberal Studies is especially beneficial for fields that do not require a specific undergraduate degree, such as business, law, or medicine.
Advisors for this degree program are located in the Student Services office in 103 Ventress Hall. For more information, please call 915-7177.
