Dr. Bruce Named Head of Political Science
John M. Bruce is the new chair of the University of Mississippi Department of Political Science. “Assuming the role of chair in this department puts me in a position to build on our existing excellence in teaching and research,” Dr. Bruce said. “As chair, I am able to take on more responsibility in recruiting both exceptional students and faculty, and I have the chance to represent our faculty and students in discussions within the College of Liberal Arts. The work can be very interesting, and having the chance to be chair in this department is a privilege.” An expert on American politics and research design, Dr. Bruce is Research Associate with the UM Social Science Research Laboratory and teaches courses in mass behavior and political parties, as well as Introduction to American Politics. Before coming to UM, he was Assistant Professor of Government at Georgetown University and a Fellow at the Harvard University Data Center. He received his Ph.D. and M.A. from The Ohio State University and B.S. from Texas A&M University. |
