Richard Forgette Appointed Senior Associate Dean for the College of Liberal Arts
Richard Forgette, professor and former chair of the University of Mississippi Department of Political Science, has been appointed Senior Associate Dean for the College of Liberal Arts. “As a long-time Department Chair, I am excited to have new opportunities to serve our students and faculty,” Dean Forgette said. “The work of the College of Liberal Arts is the core of our University’s academic mission. Dean Hopkins is a strong academic leader, and I feel fortunate to be working more closely with him.” An expert on American politics, Dean Forgette is author of Congress, Parties, and Puzzles: Politics As A Team Sport and The Power of the Purse Strings. A National Science Foundation grant recipient for his research Refugee Perceptions of Disaster Relief and Recovery: Analyzing the Importance of Social and Kinship Networks Among Hurricane Katrina Refugees on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Dean Forgette's other interests include legislative redistricting and racial voting. He teaches Public Policy Analysis, Seminar on Legislative Politics, The American Legislative Process, and Empirical Political Analysis. Before he came to UM, Dr. Forgette was Associate Professor of Political Science at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio and William A. Steiger Congressional Fellow for the American Political Science Association. He earned his Ph.D. and M.S. from the University of Rochester, M.A. from the University of North Carolina, and B.A. from Pennsylvania State University. |
