Michael Rowlett

Michael Rowlett, assistant professor of music, has taught clarinet and music literature at The University of Mississippi since 2002. He has been invited to perform at conventions of the the International Clarinet Association and the National Flute Association, and he was a semi-finalist in the ICA's 1998 Young Artist competition. He has appeared as a concerto soloist with the Germantown (Tennessee) and Durham (North Carolina) Symphony Orchestras and has performed with the Memphis, North Carolina, and Tupelo Symphony Orchestras and the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra. He has concertized extensively as a chamber musician, appearing regularly with the faculty woodwind quintet.

Rowlett holds a D.M. in clarinet performance from The Florida State University and degrees from The University of Iowa and The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. His teachers include Frank Kowalsky, Maurita Murphy Mead, Freddy Arteel and Donald Oehler.
