[News] Following the uneasy peace he brokered with the Chickasaw, Bienville, now in poor health, requests to be relieved of his duties as governor of Louisiana and returns to France. He is replaced by Phillipe de Rigaud, Marquis de Vaudreuil, son of a former governor of Canada and renowned as a vigorous and capable administrator.
