  • Odd Leaves from the Life of a Louisiana "Swamp Doctor," by Henry Clay Lewis under the pseudonym "Madison Tensas" (A. Hart)

[Death] August 5: Henry Clay Lewis dies by drowning in a swamp in northeast Louisiana.
