Women's golf team places 5th in La.

Marci Kornegay fired a final-round 76 to tie for second and lead the Ole Miss women's golf team to a fifth-place finish at the LSU-Cleveland Golf Classic. The Lady Rebels shot a 318-324-316--958 at the University Club to earn their third top five tournament finish of the year.

Kornegay, a junior from Savannah, Ga., finished with a 75-80-76--231 to post her first top five finish of the year and the third of her career. Robyn Rinaldo tied for 10th with a 81-77-79--237. The senior from Dade City, Fla., has two top 10 finishes this year and 13 for her career.

Teresa Brown continued her strong spring with a 14th-place finish. Brown, a junior from Winderemere, Fla., carded a 77-81-81--239 to merit her second top 20 finish of the season.

Bernadette Luse shot a 251 for the tournament, while Elizabeth Hoffman ended with a 259. Kerrie Davis, who competed as an individual, shot a final-round 78 to close out with a 246.

The host Tigers, led by individual medalist Tina Howard (225), won the event by 31 strokes, turning in a 918. South Florida was a distant second with a 949.

Ole Miss now prepares for the Southeastern Conference Championships, April 21-23 in Fayetteville, Ark. The Lady Rebels placed third in last year's competition, their best finish ever.
