UM men's golf team places 7th in Alabama

The Ole Miss men's golf team, led by Jon Bartlett's 12th-place finish, tied for seventh Sunday at the Billy Hitchcock Intercollegiate at the Saugahatchee Country Club. The Rebels carded a 295-298-301--894.

Bartlett, a senior from Ocala, Fla., earned his eighth straight top 20 finish, firing a 72-76-73--221. Andrew Medley, a sophomore from Jackson, Miss., just missed his third top 20 finish, tying for 22nd with a 73-72-78--223.

Junior Phil Caravia posted rounds of 75-79-72--226 to tie for 29th, while senior Chris Malloy shot a 229 to tie for 44th. Troy Muller turned in a 231.

The host Auburn won the event for the second consecutive year, recording a three-round 259.

Ole Miss now prepares for the Southeastern Conference Championships, April 21-23 in Killen, Ala. The Rebels placed 10th in last year's competition but went on to reach the NCAA Championships.
