Construction may hinder tailgaters

Since the beginning of the fall semester, students have had to detour their way around construction of the flagpole in the Circle. This may not have much effect now, but what about Saturday when campus will be jam-packed with football fans?
Right now, there is an area about 100 feet in diameter, that is blocked off in the Circle by an orange safety net due to the construction. Unfortunately, it is in an area of campus where fans gather during game day. Bill Anderson, construction manager, does not feel this will have any effect on the crowd for Saturday's game.
"I don't think it will be any effect whatsoever," said Anderson. "The center will have a construction fence, but that is the only spot not available for tailgating or whatever."
The only way Anderson feels it may be a problem is with the following Saturday's game against Auburn.
"We are trying to do it in small portions to not effect the football traffic," Anderson said. "We also should have some of that area opened up by next weekend. If not, it might have an effect because there should be a larger crowd."
Freshman Lindsey Williams, who has attended several Ole Miss football games, feels that it will be harder to maneuver around campus.
"I think it will be really hard for people with the congestion," Williams said. "It will also make it harder to get around, and may take a lot more time to get where you are going."
