The Residence Hall Association planned a retreat to Camp Hopewell at their second meeting of the year Tuesday night in the Union.
Brooke Rankins, RHA president, called the meeting to order. Representatives from Brown, Deaton, Faulkner, Howry, Kinard, Kincanon, Miller, Stewart and Stockard Halls were present.
Rankins then took names of volunteers to be on the planning committee for the upcoming RHA retreat to Camp Hopewell. At the retreat, the newly elected officers from Ole Miss' dorms will be trained in their positions and responsibilities.
The retreat will take place at Camp Hopewell on the weekend of Sept. 23.
Nominations to the executive board of RHA were also discussed. Positions open for election on the board include vice president, secretary, treasurer and national communications coordinator. A representative will also be appointed to the office of National Communications Coordinator in Training. Members of the executive board will help to plan upcoming RHA events and will meet at 8 p.m. on Mondays in the RHA office. The executive board will be elected by members of the RHA and each dorm represented will have one vote.
The meeting concluded after a few updates on hall council meetings within the individual dorms. By next week the RHA officers said they hope to have a record of every dorm's weekly meeting schedule.
Brown Hall President, and member of the RHA, Themesha Triplett, said she hopes to "make a lot of changes in Brown Hall."
Triplett also said the RHA meetings were "going real good" and that they are "getting a lot accomplished, slowly but surely."
The RHA will hold its next meeting on Tuesday at 6 p.m. in room 404-A of the Union.
