Sold Out Students is a campus-wide ministry that will begin Sept. 17 at 7:17 p.m. to bring students and the community together to sing and worship Jesus Christ.

SOS will have major religious and motivational speakers visit the Ole Miss campus beginning October 10.

Two years ago, Students Praying For Awakening and Revival on campus (SPARC) also brought all the campus ministries together for one day to sing and worship. This year's goal is to do the same with SOS.

The group will meet weekly on Sundays at 7:17 p.m.

David Robbins is a member of Campus-Crusade for Christ, another campus religious organization. He said SOS will unify Ole Miss students.

"SOS will bring students from different ministries together in unity," Robbins said. "Coming together under the one common thread we have is Jesus Christ, it will be worship and prayer time for the campus in general. Every campus ministry has grown. It shows me that God is working on this campus through SPARC. We have new students that are coming for the same desire.

"We are not trying to create another campus ministry but to bring all students together under Jesus Christ. The Oxford community will see the impact," Robbins said.

Jim Morrison, SOS head coordinator for Ole Miss, said the group's focus is God.

"Our mission statement as a group is to break down barriers of denomination in order to focus on praising God in unity," Morrison said.

He said the event will be held at 7:17 p.m. because of Psalm 7:17, which says "I will gather to praise the Lord according to his righteousness; and I will sing praise to the name of the Lord most high."

"The ultimate goal is for SOS is to spread," Morrison said. "It is all over the country on every college and university campus. It is to give the opportunity for people to praise the Lord. Our future will be up to God. It will be a big as he wants it to be. We want to focus not on the messenger but the message. I just pray that the difference can be made and the message of God can be spread."

All campus ministries are coming together in October. One of the speakers will be Joe White. If students have any questions about the October event you can contact Wes Yeary Fellowship of Christian Athletes director in Kinard Hall or at 915-3135.
