Near-record numbers are expected across the state today as Mississippians go to the polls to choose a new governor, lieutenant governor and a multitude of other state and local offices. A proposed constitutional amendment will be on the ballot, as well. |

The Candidates
Mississippi Governor
|
Ronnie Musgrove is running for governor because of education. The education of his two children, that is.
Musgrove says he wants his children to get a good education and build a career in Mississippi, and as governor, he wants to provide Mississippians with quality education. |
Mike Parker is the candidate with the downhome political TV advertisements and the wry sense of humor.
A former congressman who represented southwest Mississippi, the Republican candidate for governor wants to "keep moving forward" if he's elected as the state's next governor. |

Initiative No. 9 would place two-term limit on state legislators
Paul Watkins
DM Staff writer
When Mississippians across the state hit the polls today to pick their new state leaders, they will also decide whether mandated term limits should be placed on state legislators.

If you had trouble finding a copy of The Daily Mississippian yesterday, then you're not alone.
Reports from students, faculty and citizens on Monday suggest that at least 1,500 of The DM's 12,000 printed copies were missing from their designated bins.
