purpose of the ACA is to address issues affecting African and Caribbean
students, facilitate cultural diversity awareness and social interaction within
the community of the

ARTICLE I
ORGANIZATION
Section I NAME
The name of the organization shall be the African Caribbean Association (ACA).
Section II ACA COLORS
Section III ORGANIZATION AND STRUCTURE
Ø
The Advisor(s) of
ACA must be employed by the University (staff and /or faculty member) and /or
an active Alumni member of the University.
ARTICLE II
MEMBERSHIP
Section I ELIGIBILITY FOR MEMBERSHIP
Ø
All members must
be full time students at The University of Mississippi.
Ø
All members must
maintain an average grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.0
Section
II MEMBERSHIP FEE
Ø Five dollars
ARTICLE III
OFFICERS
Section I OFFICER QUALIFICATIONS
Each officer must be enrolled at
the
President: The President must have a minimum of sophomore standing at the time of election.
Vice President/Parliamentarian: The Vice President must have at least freshman classification and at least one semester of ACA membership at the time of election
Secretary: The Secretary must have at least freshman classification and must have at least one semester of ACA membership at the time of election.
Treasurer: The Treasurer must have at least freshman standing and at least one semester of ACA membership at the time of election.
Public Relations Officer: The Treasurer must have at least freshman standing and at least one semester of ACA membership at the time of election
Section II DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
President: The President is the chief presiding officer of all ACA meetings. The President is the official representative of ACA and is responsible for all matters within the University
Vice President: The Vice President is the principle assistant of the President and assumes the duties of the President in his/her absence.
Secretary: The Secretary records the minutes for every meeting, maintains all official documents and records, and provides information concerning ACA meetings and activities.
Treasurer: The holder of the office will oversee and manage ACA accounts during special events and activities in collaboration with the Secretary.
Public
Relation Officer: The PRO will be responsible for the promotion of ACA
awareness around and outside the
ARTICLE IV
ELECTIONS
Ø
Annual
elections will be held at the first meeting of the ACA at the beginning of
every Spring semester.
Ø
Elected officers
shall be President, Vice President, and Secretary. Newly elected or appointed
officers shall assume their duties at the first meeting.
ARTICLE V
Section I GENERAL MEETINGS
The scheduled meetings shall be called by the president and/or advisor(s). All members are expected but not required to be in attendance, but must at least attend half of all the meetings to maintain their yearly membership.
