Alpha Epsilon Delta

Founded at the University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa, on April 28, 1926, Alpha Epsilon Delta is a nonprofit, educational organization. It is incorporated in the District of Columbia. The organization holds membership in the Association of College Honor Soci eties, and the American Association for the Advancement of Science.

Our Mississippi Beta Chapter was chartered number twenty-four on December 9, 1938, the thirteenth year of the Society. There were seventeen charter members, including Dr. Arthur Guyton, the most distinguished member of the group and Professor Emeritus of Physiology and Biophysics, University Medical Center in Jackson.

The Objectives of Alpha Epsilon Delta

  • To encourage and recognize scholastic excellence among premedical students.
  • To stimulate an appreciation of the importance of premedical education in the study of medicine.
  • To promote cooperation and contacts among medical and premedical students as well as educators in developing an effective program of premedical education.
  • To use its knowledge for the benefit of health organizations, charities, and the community.
