All Ole Miss students, staff, faculty
and others who are interested in badminton are welcome to become
the members of Olemiss Badminton club. Previous experience in
this sport is preferable, but not a prerequisite. Training for
beginners will be provided once a week if they require or request
it.
Beginners are encouraged to bring their own racquets and to buy
their own shuttlecocks for regular practice, but club members
are willing to lend extra rackets to those who don't have their
own equipment initially. When new players decide to join the club,
experienced club members would be happy to assist them in choosing
and purchasing a suitable racket and shuttlecocks.
For our four intramural and extramural tournaments, club funding
will be used to buy the IBF (International Badminton Federation)
qualified feather shuttlecocks. Learning materials can be provided
for beginners, such as VCD, DVD, books covering areas such as
safety, basic techniques and strategy tips.
