English Dept. Graduate Instructors and Teaching Assistants have Loading/Unloading Parking
Carrying huge anthologies and bundles of student portfolios, many of us trudge from the lots south of the athletic complexes to our offices on the north side of campus. The walk can be pleasant or inclement, and with a heavy pack it can be hard on the back. It always takes a while to go completly across campus, which adds considerably to the time it takes to make copies or check campus mail.
To alleviate these problems, the EGSB, our Department, and UPD have arranged for GIs and TAs to have 30-minute loading or unloading hang tags. These allow us to leave books or make copies at the office. The do not allow a driver to park in a fire lane, tow-away zone, or any other area that is otherwise a no-parking-anytime zone. A GI or TA must have a regular parking decal in addition to this $1 hangtag, and must park in the designated areas for longer durations, but it is a far better walk if one can leave items at the office. The loading/unloading hangtag is a welcome time- and body-saving improvement.
Our thanks to Randy Hughes, Captain of Support Services for UPD, and Joe Urgo, Chair of the English Department.
