THE COMMITTEE

   The following are the broad guidelines defining the functions and duties of all the positions of the India Association committee. However these are not hard and fast guidelines and the committee may function in another way that they find appropriate and convenient.
  • Faculty Advisor
    Chosen by the new committee after discussing it with a consenting faculty member. Primary role is to act as an advisor to the committee and rest of the members of the association, also help the committee by facilitating things for organization of events w henever necessary or requested.

  • President
    - Distributes the workload of the organization among the committee and other members of the association.
    - Overcomes the communication gap between the committee and the organization by keeping everybody updated about the activities going on.
    - Represents India Association and the international community at the university.
    - Supervises and assists the committee members.

  • Vice-President
    Assists the president in all the activities and substitutes for the president if required.

  • Treasurer
    Responsible for maintaining accounts, generating funds and making it available where required for all organized activities.

  • Secretary
    Primarily responsible for managing arrival of new students viz. correspondence with new students, students pick up and temporary housing. Also responsible for assisting other committee members in carrying out their activities.

  • Cultural Secretary
    Responsible for organizing cultural competitions and items during the different activities and festival celebrations and most importantly organizing different item and programs for India Nite

  • Publicity Manager
    Responsible for generating awareness and enthusiasm for the activities organized by India Association, through personal relations, emails and other means.

  • Sports Secretary
    Responsible for organizing popular sports competitions among the students and staff of India Association and others. For example some of the currently popular sports are cricket, soccer, table tennis, tennis, chess.

  • Web Master
    Maintains and updates the India Association Website does this by:
    - Collecting information and pictures about all the events organized by India Association and making it available online.
    - Updating Alumni, faculty and student contact information in the database.

  • Cultural Ambassador
    Interaction with other on-campus organisations. Promotion of IA events in non-Indian community and inviting representatives of other organisations to such events. Spreading awareness of the events and working of the IA in Resident community of Indian Origin.
