ISO Logo

The International Students Organization (ISO) of the University of Mississippi has been formed out of the need for more interaction between International students on the campus. Currently, there are about 7 different student organizations which cater for International Students, but each of them caters mainly for students from specific countries. There was no association for all international students regardless of their nationality. Therefore, the ISO was formed in February 1997 by Nilesh Dosooye. Numerous other people have contributed greatly to make ISO one of the biggest organizations on campus. Check out the ISO Hall of Fame to know about these outstanding people.

Why the ISO?

The aim of the ISO is to establish a platform where all international students and Americans can meet and engage in some social activities. We want all the different cultures represented on this campus to be able to share their different backgrounds, cult ures and establish friendship.

Membership in ISO

Usually, most of our activities are open to everybody, but sometimes we may have member-only functions. There will also be a minimal fee to cover up our costs each time an activity is organized. Members get greatly reduced rates at these events or even g et in free. Membership or rather Donation is only a minimum of $5.00 per semester.

To join the ISO, please email us at olemissiso-subscribe@yahoogroups.com
or contact any member of the executive committee giving us your name, email, phone number and country of origin.

ISO Events

How do I help ISO?

Those of you who want to take an active part in the organization of events, are the most welcome to join in and help us in any way you can. The more the merrier !

Meetings are held regularly to discuss about the organization of our events. Please join us in our meetings and share your ideas with us or just drop by to make some new friends. We have a mailing list through which we send our meeting and activity schedu les. If you want to be added to the list, send us your email at olemissiso-subscribe@yahoogroups.com.

ISO elections are held once a year, usually in the Spring Semester and any member who has been here for at least one semester can run for the elections, except for the post of President where the member is required to have been a student at Olemiss for a t least one year. Also, every semester, new Activity Officers are appointed.
