ABOUT INTERNATIONAL NIGHT...

by Nome (Comments and Suggestions are welcome, send them to: nomemxp@yahoo.com)

Why International Night?  International Night is one of those traditional events annually held on Ole Miss CAMPUS.  It is very unique and different from many other celebrations.  You may have heard of WorldFest (World Sports, Food, Celebrations, and Dances, and Fun on the Grove), WhereFair (GeoQuiz, and Cultural Display Tables) and Planet Partners (World Without Border Programs).  These events are held by the Office of International Programs.  But the ISO has been very active in taking the role with these events also.  International Night is held by the International Students Organization (ISO), which is the solely organization that represents international students from over the world, including many US students.  International night brings many people, including children, from the Oxford Campus, and Oxford Town, along with international students, faculty and staff on campus together, to enjoy the ethnic food, dance, music, and festivities.  One of our goals of the International night is to create an awareness among general public of the existence of multi-culture and the diversity on the Ole Miss Campus.  The other goal of the International night is for all international students, faculty and staff, and Ole Miss community to come celebrate the World beat, fun, music, dance, food, cultural act, song and talent. The International night usually lasts about 3 hours. When buying a ticket, the price includes a meal, and the whole performance, contributed by many talented individuals.

Finally, we want to make sure that the US and international students can interact with one another without any barriers in cultural references.  As you can find out more about these following articles, which speak for themselves.

How can you be part of the International night.  Please make sure that you are subscribed to the ISO mailing list below:

The ISO holds a general meeting twice a week.  Once you are registered the ISO listserv, you will get an announcement of the time, and place of the ISO meeting.  We are working very hard organizing this International night.  So please come to our meeting and be part of the International Night of 2004...You will be surprised how much fun it is to discuss many issues related to the process of the International Night.  At the same time, you can meet many students from all around the world.  So see you there at the next ISO International Night meeting.  So let's come together and carry on the tradition of the International Night, shall we?
