Richard Neil Rosenthal

Richard Neil Rosenthal was born June 18, 1964 in New York,
New York. He moved with his family to South Florida in 1970 where he has
spent the majority of his life. In 1983 Richard began his martial arts training in Shuri-Goju-ryu under Sensei Andy Horne. He began formal training in Isshin-ryu Karatedo in May 1989 with Sensei Michael Rosenblatt and Sensei Milledge Murphy. In 1990 Richard contributed as a founding member of the Isshin-ryu Brotherhood based out of the University of Florida. He actively participated with the Isshin-ryu Brotherhood until it’s dissolution in 1997. Having earned Shodan in November 1991, Richard expanded his martial arts
training to include Iaido, Nisei Goju, Judo and Jujitsu under Kyoshi Shihan
Rex Lee while continuing to train in Isshin-ryu Karatedo, After richard
founded Northwest Isshinryu Bushidokan in October of 2000. During his
fiveyears in the Pacific Northwest Richard enjoyed the opportunity to
train with Isshin-ryu Karate-ka from the Unites States’ west coast
and British Columbia and Alberta, Canada. Sensei Mike Odell, thirty year
student of Isshin-ryu Karatedo under Sensei Steve Armstrong, was and remains
a significant influence on Richard as a karateka. |
